Our English language trip to Broadstairs, Kent, was great! From October 26th to November 2nd, 45 girls from our school went to England. Our teachers, Mrs Arndt, Mrs Riccadona, and Mr Mitterdorfer (“Mr Middlevillager”), were with us. We had a great time learning at the Kent School of English (KSE).

Learning and Living with Host Families

The trip started on Sunday with a friendly welcome from our host families. Living with English families was a good way to practice our language skills every day.

Every morning, we had English classes at KSE. The lessons were fun and helped us to improve our English. In the afternoons and evenings, we had many exciting activities:

  • Monday: After classes, we explored Broadstairs with a Town Trail. It was a challenge to find all the landmarks and answer the questions about Broadstairs. In the evening, there was a traditional Barn Dance - it was very funny, and we enjoyed the live music.
  • Tuesday: We had classes in the morning and afternoon, in the evening, we enjoyed a Disco – even our teachers were dancing.
  • Thursday: We made a trip to the old city of Canterbury. We saw the famous cathedral and other historic sights. There was also time to walk around the charming streets and shop for souvenirs. In the evening, we did some team challenges which could be tricky but also very funny.
  • Friday: We had our last classes in the morning. Then, we enjoyed a Coastal Walk to Ramsgate by the sea. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t the best. So, we got a bit wet and cold. We finished our week at Broadstairs with a cool Karaoke night. Everyone had the chance to perform a song.

The London Highlight and Farewell

The trip to the capital on Wednesday was a big highlight. But that was not our last time in London! – We started with a walk through Greenwich Park, then went to a boat to see all the famous sights and the famous skyline from the Thames. Afterwards we started our guided tour by two KSE guides featuring Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Downing Street, Horse guards, The Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. Finally, we enjoyed some free time for our own shopping tour at Covent Garden, hurray!

On Saturday, our last day, we said goodbye to our host families and headed to London for a final adventure. We took a great boat trip on the Thames again, stopped at the Tower of London, walked over the famous Tower Bridge to take some nice selfies, and explored London’s South Bank (e. g. the Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Millennium Bridge…). We ended the day at Piccadilly Circus and had some time for a last fun shopping tour at Oxford or Regent Street! Finally, we started our long journey home, travelling by bus and ferry.

The week was a great mix of learning and fun! We made new friends, learned a lot of English, and saw beautiful places.
